University professor since 1971, first at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Turin, where he was a student of Giuliano Bonfante, then at the Faculty of Languages of University « G. D'Annunzio ", Lucio D'Arcangelo left the university in 2000. In recent years he has devoted himself fully to linguistics and was the technical-scientific manager of the bill n. 993 of 21 December 2001 for the establishment of the Superior Council of the Italian Language. Author of many books among which Difesa dell’italiano (Roma, 2003), Breviario di italiano (2009), La spirale di Gabelentz (2012), Il genio della lingua (2016). He has written in various newspapers and in 2006 he participated in Rai International broadcasts and in particular in the program "Viva Dante! ". He contributes to Vita e Pensiero and Lingua Italiana d'Oggi.
